Leading Through Excellence with HCC President Dr. Kate Hetherington
After a prolonged summer absence, we’re back with new shows starting this month! For our first show back from the break, we interviewed outgoing Howard Community College President Dr. Kate Hetherington. Dr. Hetherington has been at the community college since 1999 and served as president for the last 14 years. During that time, HCC has received national recognition for its educational programs, including the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award presented by the United States Department of Commerce.
In this interview, Dr. Hetherington discussed her leadership style and method of using the 12 Baldridge criteria as a guide for improving the college. She also talks about why she decided to engage on Black Lives Matter over the objection of some members in the community. As always, we end with our “fun questions”, which are always a treat.
